Busiika Muslim Secondary School recently organized an unforgettable educational tour to the Uganda Equator, one of the country’s most famous geographical landmarks. The learners had an exceptional opportunity to witness the point where the Earth’s northern and southern hemispheres meet—an experience that brought classroom geography lessons to life.
Learning Geography in the Real World
The Equator visit provided students with a deeper understanding of:
- How the Equator divides the Earth into two hemispheres
- Why temperatures are higher around equatorial regions
- The Coriolis effect and water-flow demonstrations
- Uganda’s central position on the global map
Teachers and guides demonstrated practical experiments that helped the learners understand how water swirls differently in the northern and southern hemispheres—a highlight many students found both surprising and memorable.
